Bracebridge Engineering Ltd, a leading metal presswork manufacturer based in Birmingham, has announced the completion of a major solar energy installation at its factory. The 239-panel system, valued at £100,000, will generate 99kW of electricity and significantly reduce the company's reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

The solar array, installed by Environmental Energies, is one of the largest commercial solar installations in the area, It will provide a substantial portion of the factory's electricity needs, reducing the company's carbon emissions by an estimated 14 tonnes per year.

The project was made possible through a combination of private investment and funding from the UK Government's Net Zero Grant Programme (NZGP) ), delivered by the Business Development & Innovation Team, Birmingham City Council .  This support has enabled Bracebridge Engineering Ltd to accelerate its plans to reduce its environmental impact and invest in a more sustainable energy future.

"We're thrilled to have completed this project and are proud to be taking a leading role in reducing our environmental impact," said Luke Parker, Managing Director at BBE . "This investment in solar energy will not only help us save on energy bills, but also contribute to a more sustainable future for our business and the local community. We're grateful for the support of the UK Government in helping us achieve this goal."

The 99kW solar system is expected to save BBE around £15,000 per year on energy costs. The installation also includes a monitoring system, which will enable the company to track its energy production and consumption in real-time.

This project is part of BBE's ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices. The company has set ambitious targets to reduce its carbon emissions and is exploring other initiatives to minimize its impact on the environment.
